Position 125 presents ‘Campuran’ in De Hal

Position 125 presents Campuran in De Hal

For the third year in a row, a group of artists organizes a group exhibition under the name Position 125 in the context of the commemoration of Javanese immigration. On 7 and 8 August this exhibition, with the title Campuran, can be seen in De Hal on the Grote Combéweg 45 in Paramaribo, Suriname. Campuran, pronounced tjampuran, means mixed in Javanese, or: merging of different things. The title not only refers to the exhibition, but also to Suriname, because of the cultural diversity and biodiversity that characterizes our country.

No less than fourteen exhibitors take part in Campuran: Ardie Setropawiro (paintings), August Bohé (paintings), Cliff Rasidin (paintings), Dani Djojoatmo (paintings), Donovan Mariman (paintings), Johan Doelrajak (paintings), Kim Sontosoemarto (paintings and ceramics), Ray Daal (paintings), Reinier Asmoredjo (paintings), René Tosari (paintings), Soeki Irodikromo (paintings and ceramics), Sri Irodikromo (paintings), Steven Towirjo (ceramics) and Suhada Kasto (paintings).

Position 125 also thinks ahead. In two years, the commemoration of 130 years of Javanese immigration. In order to commemorate that moment in a big way, funds are already being raised. During the expo days of Campuran smaller artworks and craft objects such as tie-dye cloths, painted cigarette boxes and more are sold. Part of the proceeds will also be used to realize the Position Dream. The dream wish is to have an exhibition in the country of origin of the ancestors, Indonesia.

Campuran can be seen in De Hal, Grote Combéweg 45, Paramaribo. The exhibition days are Tuesday 7 and Wednesday 8 August with opening hours from 10:00 to 13:00 and 18:00 to 21:00.
