After a pause of two years, in 2020 and 2021, Museum Night Suriname (Facebook) is really back on track. On October 14, 2023 several locations will open their doors to the public, from 17:00 until 22:00 hrs. This year’s theme is ‘Hoe wij hier ook samenkwamen’: which translates as: ‘Regardless of how we came together here’.
The Museum Night Suriname is an interpretation of the International Museum Day initiated by the International Council of Museums (ICOM) on May 18, 1977. The collective of museums in Suriname organizes MuseumN8 Suriname on October 14, 2023. The MuseumN8 therefore contributes greatly to the development of society’s cultural awareness. This year, 9 museums and 4 other institutions will open their doors during MuseumN8 Suriname.
In recent years, MuseumN8 Suriname has developed into one of the most valued cultural events in Suriname. It provides a unique opportunity to celebrate and promote our rich cultural heritage and artistic expressions. This year, the 9th edition promises to be a special experience, with a diverse program of exhibitions, performances, workshops and more spread across various museum and gallery locations. Especially in light of the special commemoration year.
